Türkiye has strongly condemned Israel’s announcement recognizing the Somaliland region as an independent entity, describing the move as a clear violation of international law and a threat to regional stability. Türkiye’s Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, has condemned Israel’s announcement recognizing the Somaliland region as an independent entity, describing the move as a clear violation of international law.

In a statement published on X, Duran said the decision amounts to interference in Somalia’s internal affairs and undermines the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning that it further destabilizes the fragile political and security balance in the Horn of Africa.

“This step targets Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and makes the sensitive balance in the region even more fragile,” Duran wrote.

He criticized the move as part of what he described as the irresponsible policies of the Netanyahu government, saying such actions continue to damage efforts aimed at peace and stability in the region.
Calling for international action, Duran said the global community must take a unified stance against initiatives that escalate tensions and increase security risks in the Horn of Africa.

Reaffirming Ankara’s position, he stressed that Türkiye will continue to stand firmly in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia. “Türkiye will resolutely maintain its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our brotherly Somalia,” he added in the post.
