In a powerful display of national unity, Sudanese citizens from across the country gathered in jubilant mass rallies on Tuesday to welcome President General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan at Portsudan Airport. The celebrations marked the military’s decisive victory over the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and the recapture of Wad Madani.

Crowds of youth, women, and children lined the streets, waving flags and chanting “One Army, One People” as President Al-Burhan’s motorcade passed through the Red Sea State’s capital. The celebrations reflected deep national pride, symbolizing the strength and cohesion between the Armed Forces and the Sudanese people.

Al-Burhan praised the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and supporting units in the fight.

The streets of Portsudan were adorned with banners expressing solidarity with the army in its ongoing “Battle of Dignity” against the RSF militia, which has waged violence against Sudanese civilians. Al-Burhan’s arrival marked the culmination of a wave of victories that have driven the RSF forces back and brought Sudan closer to peace.

Addressing a rally later that day, Al-Burhan praised the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and supporting units in the fight. He also reiterated that Sudan would rebuild with all its citizens as equal partners, rejecting attempts by the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) to dictate the nation’s future.

“We are all partners in this homeland,” he said, promising a post-conflict Sudan that reflects national unity, not division. He further urged those affected by RSF atrocities, including massacres in Wad Al-Noura and Al-Tikeina, to seek justice through legal channels rather than taking matters into their own hands. “We are not a militia; we are an army with rules and regulations,” he emphasized.

Al-Burhan also paid tribute to the fallen martyrs of Sudan, instructing that their images replace those of government officials in a sign of respect for their sacrifices. “They are more honorable than all of us,” he said.

The president’s speech underscored his commitment to ensuring peace and the eventual return of displaced families to their homes in Khartoum, Nyala, and Al-Geneina. “We will not rest until this cancer ends,” he declared, referring to the RSF threat, and warned fighters who chose to continue resisting: “Whoever fights will meet their end at the hands of the Armed Forces.”

In a stern message to local leaders, Al-Burhan urged them to protect their youth, stating: “Anyone who sends their sons to fight the Sudanese people will be doomed to death.” His words struck a chord, signaling that the military’s resolve is firm and that Sudan’s path to recovery is non-negotiable.

As Sudan looks to rebuild, the mass rallies in Portsudan not only celebrated the military’s victory but also reinforced the spirit of unity that is seen as vital to the country’s future.
